Melrose

The Melrose estate, the 1840s mansion of the John T. McMurran family, includes original furnishings which reflect the lifestyle of the planter elite.

The estate includes several outbuildings where the enslaved lived and labored, such as kitchens, a dairy, and quarters. A new exhibit examining slavery in the antebellum South is located in one of the slave cabins, which also includes an audio program and a furnished room to further explore the lives and culture of enslaved people.

Melrose is a unit of Natchez National Historical Park. The site is open daily from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Guided tours of the mansion begin every hour from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Tour fees are $8.00 for adults, and $4.00 for seniors 62 and over, and $4.00 for children ages 6-17. Children under six are free. There are no fees for touring the grounds, and the cabin exhibit.

Open Daily - 9a.m. - 4:00p.m.* - Tours at the top of hour.
